Sorry to my fans, I am back at last Traveling this week has me feeling gassed Sam-I-am is back with another rhyme To help you pass a little time I take a sip, holy smoke! A few years ago, a sip like that would make me choke. This has to be another scotch Certainly no notes of butterscotch When will these scotches relent? I don't remember sign up for scotch advent! Sam-I-am this just tastes fine I'm sipping it here on the OBX coastline

"Why not make 10 peatier? Because 11 is one more, while most blokes are stuck at ten, this goes over the edge" I can't with this one. I'd rather drink yesterday's again.

โ€œItโ€™s like, โ€˜How much more peated could this be?โ€™ And the answer isโ€ฆ none. None more peatedโ€

Peaty, smoky, leather. Nice dram. Guessing Scotch, but I wonโ€™t be surprised when Iโ€™m wrong.

Strong honey flavor. High on florals. That whiskey burn is real! Reminds me of a cough syrup. This isn't a fave of mine but Rabit says it's growing on him. Curious what Sam I Am picked here.

Oh, this is fantastic. Woodsy, masculine, and well balanced. Iโ€™d love to own a bottle of this.

Iโ€™m gonna plant a flag on port finished scotch just off the nose (and the color). Itโ€™s all dark dried fruit and almond on the front but classic malt flavors on the back. Feels slightly hot but my proof-o-meter is well busted this year. Iโ€™m getting some smoked ham notes like I love in the Ardbeg Uigeadail. This oneโ€™s growing on me by the minute. Quite lovely on a chilly evening. Must be some fruit to it, a fruit fly kamikazeโ€™d my glass. I fished him out. Iโ€™m not sharing this one.

Thunder crashes. Ice wind billows. storm upon storm builds in the space between earth and sky. This battle has raged for weeks, for dominion of the humans. An angel and a devil, locked in combat on a celestial scale high among the clouds. The mighty Archangel raises her arm to the sky for one last blessing, a weapon that could defeat this devil and save this fledging creation called humanity. The sky opens and grants her request: a bolt of lightning arcs into her hand, frozen and terrifying. With a final cry she flies into the great monstrosity and plunges the frozen lightning into his heart. Spent, and weary, she fades knowing her foe falls to the earth vanquished. The corpse of the beast lands, a crater forming underneath his wreck. His body decays, becomes one with nature as all things must. But the frozen spear of sacred lightning remains, not eternally but almost just; for once every year, a single drop melts off. And every year, there are those who seek to bottle it.

That molasses! Cola candy, some campfire. Some smoke. Love this, a little butter? Chocolate. Absolutely delicious. Added water and now debating this may be Rye... got that pepper and going with it. Tough one, high grade.

Really interesting! The oaky power of this one shines through. Guessing some kind of sherry-heavy scotch.

Getting leather on the nose with is a little off-putting. Medicinal taste on the palette. No clue what this could be but, i'm not a fan of this one.

nose is super floral..smells like a port. Taste...cherries for sure. I'm guessing a port finished bourbon. Finish is short, but clean. Very nice and mature!

He drones on and on and on and on. I try to nod and follow what he is saying. He continues to describe every detail of his life story, down to the number of buttons on his military coat when he signed up to fight the Orc incursion (4, 4 buttons). Now heโ€™s on about how the peace talks went south and how it all went to shit when we gave up the river on the north side to the greenskins. He reminds me that heโ€™s 1/32 Orc himself so itโ€™s ok for him to say all this. I roll my eyes, but hide it by looking towards Vanessa. We elected to keep our relationship a secret, and come to this Wintercrest party as โ€˜friends.โ€™ If he knew a Half-orc was dating his little neice, he might actually have a heart attack. That would get me out of this conversation at least. He takes a liking to me, pulls me in to his study. โ€˜Now hereโ€™s something you canโ€™t get nowadays. My gods we used to be a real kingdom.โ€™ He procures a bottle, a menacing orc wielding an axe and a stalk of barley. โ€˜Try this my boy, itโ€™ll put real hair on your chest. Itโ€™s actually made from the orcs!โ€™ I chuckle to myself, we toast the King and I drink. I maintain eye contact with โ€˜uncle glory daysโ€™ and I chug the whole glass. He tries to keep up with me but chokes and coughs. My mother made stronger stuff to go with her morning cereal.

Tastes pretty thin and a little young. Maybe a couple more years in the barrel, but not feeling it's quite ready. Here's a cool pic of a Christmas tree made out of whiskey barrels from a company in Wake Forest. https://thewhiskeyworkshop.com/products/bourbon-barrel-christmas-trees-two-sizes-69754

When the write up includes way more talk about the story behind the name than the spirit itselfโ€ฆ I stand by my rating.

Yeah... I have to agree with you here. Their website has a ton more merchandise than it does whiskey which is usually a sign of a distillery that needs age their whiskey longer.
