… Overall fairly muted. Feels like a decent proof, but not much character up front. I added a tiny splash of water to see if it would open up at all. I got maybe a hint of apricot but not much else. I’m thinking rye. This one feels like it has good bones, but not much flavor.

One sniff and I knew it was a scotch. I wish I liked it...the only type I like are amore peat forward...this guy...meh. I feel bad for saying that, since it was picked by a member...but to each their own. Lots of honey on the palate, the finish is actually improving along the way. Easy sipper for sure, just not my cup of tea.

Memories of the blood stained earth flash behind my shut eyes. I jolt awake, blade at the ready, but the battle is done, I am alone. I try to stand but my wounded knee fails me. I fall to the soft ground, try to crawl north back towards my nation. I fade again, the pain is too great. When I wake, night has fallen. I trudge on, whimpering in the somber moonlight. Out of the corner of my sight, a flash. Eyes in the trees. I grab my blade, though I am helpless in this state. Slowly, a hobbled woman steps out. A face of many years, wretched and twisted. Yet something in her eyes seems kind, or at least safe. She scuttles towards me, slowly repeating some word in her native tongue as she offers me a cup. She points at my leg, and motions to drink. I weigh my options…they are few. I have so little to lose, so I do as she beckons. The cup is putrid. As off putting as this gnarled crone. But I soldier on and sip. It tastes much better than it smells! I look at the crone in surprise. She seems bit less twisted than before. I go for another sip, the smell is just as rough but the taste is good. I swear she has melted off decades in her appearance, her crooked spine has straightened, she is dancing now, like a young blushing bride. I am dancing too, arm in arm with her, my bloody knee showing no pain. She spins out of my arms and walks towards the woods, and I follow, down the way into the trees to a hovel. She slips down inside and I crawl to follow her into her home…not a home I realize with untimely horror, a lair! I try to back out as quickly as I can but she grips me and shoves more of this liquid down my gullet. Maybe, like this liquid, she’s not so bad once you get past the nose
