Good start to the calendar and what a day to be alive. Love the addition of some fellow Jews to the calendar this year (shout out to the Rubins). Interesting flavor. Easy drink. Not too strong. My pregnant wife thinks it smells so you know this one is good.

Hands down, without doubt, this is the drink every young man’s grandfather handed to them and said “try that, it’ll put some hair on your chest” (not sure if the young women experienced the same, let’s hope not)

Leather. Peat. Tobacco. Summer fruit. I think this is Irish. If it's scotch shame on me. Gotta say I am not a huge fan. Leather is forward like my docksiders but not as bad as some others. Kind of grew on me a bit. Opened up on the fruit. Add a drop of water and bam!

Lots of smoke, comes off as a scotch from the nose all the way through. Buttery, silky texture to it. Not my favorite on flavor, but still enjoyable.

Orange-y, pepper and baking spices. Got some heat on it. Reminds me of Widow Jane. Maybe a little harsh on the palette. The baking spices want to be enjoyed slowly and the turpentine doesn't.

The smell is familiar, the taste is complex and enthralling. I get hints of spice and plum. The whiskey has a strong punch behind it, with a strong alcohol content. Some type of barrel proof, maybe Bookers.
