Notes

As I age, I prefer this flavor profile more and more. Afraid to speak to confidently about what I think this is, this early in the calendar - but quite enjoyable. Definitely have had this before, but can't pit my finger on it. Light in color, very minor peat on the nose, light fruit on the palata (green apples predominantly). Very enjoyable, but a surprising pick for this early in the calendar. Watch, I'll be wrong in my pick now.

I don't love it, but I don't hate it. It's kind of growing on me. Pairing it with a newish song I like so maybe that's helping. ; ) I smell the fruit, but something is there that's not my fave. Still drinking it!! ; )

That is malted barley, friend. Green apple, no appreciable peat on the nose. Honey, shortbread, all the classics. Is it Glenfiddich 12? Honeyed pear on the palate, maybe a touch of peat? Tastes a little heftier than a standard 80 proof, but not bonded or cask strength. Nice English leather toward the middle of the glass. Now I’m thinking Highland Park, maybe the 15 at 88 proof? Anyway, I got to see Die Hard at the Byrd Theater tonight with the Wurlitzer as an opener, so no matter how this goes, I’m already a winner. Yippee-ki-yay…

Very soft. I'm liking it. Smelling the fruit, mostly apples with a little tropical flair. Kind of waxy on the finish, but I like it. Tastes like a mother's hug.

Would I drink this whiskey Sam-I-am? Based on the first few sips, I am not a fan. It's very clear, it has not been aged for long. It also doesn't have much of a smell, what is wrong? Would I drink it chilled or neat? As long as this is a selection we do not repeat. It tastes like water, it's not so bold More like pretending to be whiskey, if truth be told. Is it awful? No just bland That is all from Sam-I-Am So Day 2's bottle, I must confess It's simply just is not the best.

Light and easy drinking but a medicinal flavor to it. Not my favorite, probably a scotch.

Such a sweet smell with a honey flavored burn. High spice. Light flavor. Pretty good for a drink after talking about chicken pie and Copilot to the entire Firm where I work.

First reaction: "I think peat was near it" - I feel it is kind of thin, we think it is a scotch. As this all plays out it is clear that I like it more than Sam does. I'd even consider buying it if the price is reasonable. I'm no Sultan though. Or an Earl.

Nose is a little tight at first. Straw, then cherry, then brown sugar. Maybe some dusty peach. Hint of rose? Antique wicker. First sip similarly dusty, then caramel, then brown sugar. The oak is squeezing my tongue. The first sip opens up some citrus notes on the nose. It’s interesting, it feels like it’s going to be thin on the start, but it has a pretty hefty body by the middle. I want to call this nose Hostess Fruit Pie. Something perfume-y in there too. Probably would’ve called this rye if left to my own devices. I feel like I like it less the more I analyze it. It’s like buttery on the front and acerbic on the finish. It’s definitely got craft spirits vibes. Now I want to call the fruit note like tangerine pith. I’m going with a Gentleman’s 5.5 for the rating. It’s not bad, not great, kinda funky.

We're back! This Broken Oak has a bit more of a grain flavor than I remember, but still such a solid pour.

Had a big hug but quite enjoyable caramel ending. Nice way to start off the season!

Such a good bourbon! Smooth, sweet and a little strong but I still enjoyed it as much as last year. Enjoying this with my brother-in-law who likes it but thinks it is a little astringent with a medicinal finish that lingers a little too long for his preference. Great start to the season. Merry Christmas!!

this drink is less pink than i usually order, but i'm liking this one. very smooth. it's better than my "whiskey that I know" too - sorry, Still Austin. i don't know what i'm doing, but this is fun so far. pairing this advent with listening to new songs, so enjoy if you want to listen!

This bourbon is so good just straight out of the bottle. It's a fantastic, deliciously butterscotch hinting amazing drink. I'm so glad Mystic is in Durham, NC.

Been waiting all year to have this one again. One of the most unique and delicious bourbons I’ve ever had. Cheers to another great advent!

Well here it is again, that time of year That ole JK brings us so much cheer I sniffed this whiskey in my chair, so sweet with cinnamon in the air The first sip came with vanilla light, a gentle taste, soft, warm, and bright. Honestly I cannot say why But I liked it far more than last year's try. Would I drink this in a sleigh Riding through snowy winds on Christmas day? Yes I would says Sam-I-Am A positive start to advent with this little dram

Definitely would have gotten the type correct. Maybe been close on the proof. Caramel start. Not a fan of this one.
